Understand how visitors actually navigate your site
Aggregate analytics tell you what happened across all visitors. Visitor Log tells you how a specific (anonymous) visit unfolded. You can see the exact page sequence, time spent on each page, the device and browser used, the country, and where the visit came from.
Each session groups pageviews that share the same daily-rotating anonymous identifier. The identifier is a one-way hash and cannot be reversed to an IP address or linked to an individual. It resets at midnight, so no visitor can be tracked across days.
Use Visitor Log to audit your content flows, spot common exit pages, understand multi-page journeys, and check whether important pages like pricing or documentation are being discovered in the right order.
Page-by-page timeline
Every session expands into an ordered list of pages visited, each with a timestamp and time-on-page. See exactly how a visitor moved through your site from entry to exit.
Device, browser and OS
Each session shows the visitor's device type (desktop, mobile, tablet), browser, and operating system. Understand which environments your real visitors use.
Country and city
See where each visitor came from, down to city level. Useful for understanding geographic demand and checking whether localised content is reaching the right audience.
Referrer source
Know whether a visit came from Google, a social link, a direct bookmark, or another site. Correlate traffic sources with session depth and page sequences.
Session duration and page count
Each session row shows the total duration and the number of pages viewed at a glance, so you can quickly identify engaged multi-page visits versus single-page bounces.
Date browsing
Pick any date within your data retention window to browse historical sessions. Compare behaviour patterns across different days, campaigns, or content releases.
Built on the same privacy foundation as all GhostlyX features
Visitor Log gives you individual session detail without any of the privacy trade-offs that come with traditional visitor tracking tools.
No IP addresses stored
IP addresses are used only transiently to compute a one-way SHA-256 hash. They are discarded immediately and never written to disk. The hash cannot be reversed.
Daily-rotating identifiers
The visitor hash incorporates the current date, so it changes every 24 hours. Visitors cannot be tracked across days. There is no persistent profile built for any individual.
No cookies or fingerprinting
Visitor Log works with no cookies, no local storage, and no browser fingerprinting APIs. There is nothing to disclose in a cookie banner and nothing for ad blockers to block.
GDPR and PECR compliant
Because no personal data is stored and no persistent identifiers are used, GhostlyX Visitor Log does not require consent under GDPR or PECR. Your privacy policy needs no special clause for it.
Respects GPC and DNT
If a visitor has Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track enabled, GhostlyX will not record any data from that visitor, including Visitor Log sessions.
Team member access
Team members inherit access to Visitor Log from the site owner's plan. No visitor data is shared outside the team. Each site's data is scoped to its owners and authorised members only.

Frequently asked questions
What is a visitor log in website analytics?
A visitor log is a chronological record of every session on your website, showing which pages each anonymous visitor viewed, in what order, and for how long. GhostlyX Visitor Log groups pageviews by a daily-rotating anonymous identifier so you can see the full journey of each visit without storing any personal data or IP addresses.
How does GhostlyX Visitor Log protect privacy?
GhostlyX identifies visitors using a SHA-256 hash of their IP address, user agent, site ID, and the current date. The hash changes every 24 hours, making cross-day tracking impossible. The IP address is used transiently during hash computation and is never stored. No cookies are set, and no fingerprinting APIs are used.
Which plan includes Visitor Log?
Visitor Log is available on the Pro plan and above, which starts at $9 per month. It is not available on the Free plan.
Can team members access the Visitor Log?
Yes. Team members added to a site inherit the site owner's plan features. If the site owner is on the Pro plan or above, all team members can view the Visitor Log for that site regardless of their own plan.
What does the Visitor Log show for each session?
Each session shows the visitor's device type, browser, operating system, country, city, referrer source, total session duration, page count, and a page-by-page timeline with individual page paths, timestamps, and time spent on each page.
How is Visitor Log different from session replay?
Visitor Log shows a lightweight text timeline of which pages were visited, in what order, and for how long. Session Replay records the full DOM state and mouse interactions so you can watch a video of the visit. Visitor Log is available from the Pro plan, while Session Replay requires the Scale plan.
Does GhostlyX store IP addresses for the Visitor Log?
No. IP addresses are never stored. They are used transiently in a one-way hash computation and then discarded. The resulting hash changes daily, so it cannot be used to track a specific visitor across days.
How far back does the Visitor Log go?
The Visitor Log can display sessions for any date within your plan's data retention window. You can pick any date using the date picker in the dashboard to browse historical sessions.
